Our Research Team
HowToGetLicensed.com is maintained by a dedicated team of researchers and writers who specialize in professional licensing requirements across all 50 states. With over a decade of combined experience in education, career guidance, and regulatory research, our team is committed to providing the most accurate and accessible licensing information available.
We work behind the scenes to compile, verify, and update licensing guides so that you can spend less time navigating bureaucracy and more time advancing your career.
What We Do
Our team covers 49 professions across all 50 states, producing and maintaining thousands of individual licensing guides. Each guide is the result of thorough research into that profession's requirements in a specific state, including:
- Education and training prerequisites
- Examination requirements and pass rates
- Application procedures and timelines
- Fee breakdowns and total estimated costs
- Renewal cycles and continuing education obligations
- Reciprocity and endorsement options for out-of-state professionals
Our Research Methodology
Accuracy is the foundation of everything we publish. Our research process relies exclusively on primary, authoritative sources:
- State licensing boards and regulatory agencies — We go directly to the official source for each profession in each state. Every requirement, fee, and procedure is traced back to the governing body responsible for issuing licenses.
- Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) — National salary data and occupational employment statistics come from the Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics program.
- O*NET OnLine — Occupation profiles, classifications, and skill descriptions are sourced from the O*NET database, maintained by the U.S. Department of Labor.
- Official government websites — Application forms, fee schedules, and regulatory updates are sourced from state .gov websites.
Our Commitment to Quality
We hold ourselves to a high standard because people rely on our guides to make important career and financial decisions. Our commitment includes:
- Regular reviews — Guides are reviewed on a quarterly cycle at minimum, with more frequent updates when states announce major regulatory changes.
- Systematic fact-checking — Every data point is verified against the original source document before publication.
- Transparent sourcing — We cite our sources on every guide page, with direct links to official licensing board websites.
- Open corrections process — If you find an error, we encourage you to report it so we can investigate and correct it promptly.
